Abstract

The validity of simple formulas based on cylindrical and far‐field approximation models for calculating minimum safety distances for the assessment of human exposure to electromagnetic fields from base station antennas is analyzed by comparing with FDTD computations. Results for different actual antenna models show the suitability of each formulation. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
