✦ Synopsis

Based on the concept of the multiple level of significance two criteria for asseasing the performance of multiple teats are proposed: The simultaneous power is d e f i atz the probability of rejecting all falee null hypothm. The probability of a correct decision ia defied as the probability of correctly rejecting all falee null hypotheses and acoepting all true onea. Both criteria are d i s c d for nonetagewise and stagewise procedurea in oase of independent test statistics. For the example of 5 independently and normally dktributed tat statistics the values of the two criteria are aaloutated under reaeonably simple alternatives.

Latent class models can be used to assess diagnostic test performance when there is no perfectly accurate gold standard test available for comparison. The significance of a lod score value of 3 is very difficult to assess in linkage studies between a genetic marker and a complex disease. One reason is that multiple tests may have been performed, voluntarily or otherwise. For the same disease, linkage may be tested by different laboratories with se

Partial least squares modelling in latent variables is applied to the analysis of short-term test genotoxicity data obtained by testing 42 chemicals, known carcinogens and non-carcinogens, in 35 different assay systems that are deemed to be potential indicators of carcinogenicity. Results of a preli
