Premixed flames stabilized in stagnation point flow are considered. It is shown that this classical flow field is capable of sustaining, apart from the known planar flames, also some nonplanar flame configurations similar to those recently observed in experiments.

The behavior of cellular premixed flames of rich butane-air in the two-dimensional stagnation-point flow configuration has been investigated. It is found that the stretching of the cellular flame results in the alignment of the ridge (extinction) and the trough (combustion) zones of the individual c
Flame propagation through an array of vortices was studied with a model which incorporated the variation of the local burning velocity with stretch. Assuming incompressible flow, the mean burning velocities were calculated and compared to those of the Huygens limit. It was found that stretch causes
