✦ Synopsis

Abstract

When any process of measuring is considered, one of the basic questions is how to assess the precision of measurement methods and/or instruments. In this paper, this question is formulated and solved as a problem of tolerance regions for absolute and relative normaly distributed errors of measurements.

Measurement errors can have dramatic impact on the outcome of empirical analysis. In this article we quantify the eects that they can have on predictions generated from ARMA processes. Lower and upper bounds are derived for dierences in minimum mean squared prediction errors (MMSE) for forecasts gen

## Abstract This article explores to what extent the poor results that are often found when estimating parameters of production functions can be attributed to measurement errors, due to the use of common price deflators across firms. This paper echoes the familiar warning that additive measurement error and multicollinearity in the explanatory variables can mislead investigators in multiple Poisson regression analysis. Often, a causal variable measured with error may be overlooked and its signi®cance transferred to another covar
