The notion of stimulated emission of acoustic power is introduced. Its occurence is illustrated by analysing the power radiated from a vibrating fiat plate. Finally, it is shown that stimulated emission from a vibrating sphere can be utilized as a means of producing narrow band amplification of acou

โฆ Synopsis
The previous work on sound power calculation in the presence of a mean #ow has been focused on the casting of the basic acoustic equations in the form of an acoustic energy conservation law from which a de"nition of the acoustic intensity is extracted. The present paper shows that such de"nitions of sound intensity are deducible from the physical de"nition of sound power. Also presented is an expression or the sound power in a narrow pipe with a uniform mean #ow.

A ray acoustics approach to flow effects on acoustics scattering is considered, based on a combination of geometrical acoustics and the paraxial ray approximation. The approach allows for scattering by objects of arbitrary shapes, inhomogeneous and moving media. Applications to flow effects on scatt
The acoustic power of an oscillating flame is measured. A turbulent premixed propane/air flame is situated near a pressure antinode of a standing wave in a laboratory combustion chamber. This standing wave is generated by a piston. The fluctuating heat release of the flame will supply acoustic power
