β¦ Synopsis
We present methodology for calculating Bayes factors between models as well as posterior probabilities of the models when the indicator variables of the models are integrated out of the posterior before Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) computations. Standard methodology would include the indicator functions as part of the MCMC computations. We demonstrate that our methodology can give substantially greater accuracy than the traditional approach. We illustrate the methodology using the model selection prior of George and McCulloch applied to logistic regression and to a mixture model for observations in a hierarchical random e ects model.

In this paper we show how a user can inΒ―uence recovery of Bayesian networks from a database by specifying prior knowledge. The main novelty of our approach is that the user only has to provide partial prior knowledge, which is then completed to a full prior over all possible network structures. This
Sample size estimation is a major component of the design of virtually every experiment in medicine. Prudent use of the available prior information is a crucial element of experimental planning. Most sample size formulae in current use employ this information only in the form of point estimates, eve
## Abstract In the last decade, numerous genomeβwide linkage and association studies of complex diseases have been completed. The critical question remains of how to best use this potentially valuable information to improve study design and statistical analysis in current and future genetic associa
