The aminopeptidase test was performed with representatives of gram-negative, gram-positive, and gram-variable bacteria. All gram-negative bacteria tested gave a positive test reaction with L-alanine-4-nitroanilide as test substrate. Representatives of the coryneform bacteria and some streptococci sh
