✦ Synopsis
The absorption spectrum of the à A 2 A 1 -X X 2 B 1 electronic transition of H 2 O þ has been observed in the visible region between 16 600-17 600 cm À1 using optical heterodyne magnetic rotation enhanced velocity modulation spectroscopy. Altogether 100 lines were assigned to the R(0,11,0)-(0,0,0) and D(0,11,0)-(0,0,0) subbands, and precise molecular constants for the two vibronic levels of the à A 2 A 1 electronic state were obtained with the molecular constants of the ground state held fixed at literature values.
