✦ Synopsis

Nucleation of Struvite (MgNH,PO, . 6 H,O) Single Crystals and Aggregates

T h e conditions (concentration and pH) for preparation of single crystals of struvite at 25 "C from animoniacal solutions equimolar with respect t o magnesium and phosphate ions are given. T h e limits a r e found above which crystal aggregates (twins or dendrites) Ilrecipitate as dominant morphology. The mechanisms of nucleation a r e tliscnssed and t h e interfacial tension between crystals and solution is evaluated.
