✦ Synopsis

The niirogen-14 nuc!ear qundrupole resonance spectrum of the potassium sait of 7,7', 8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimcthan (K-TCNQ) as found at liquid nitrogen temperature is presented. The data are interpreted in terms of the Townes and Dailey theory and compared with those available for sleutrnl TCNQO. The results indicate an cxccss charge density of 0.13 electron per nitrogen in general agreement wirh tie charge distribution calculated for the TCNQ-ion. The 16 line spectrum demonstrates the existence of ci_ght nonequivalent nitrogen sites in the K-TCNQ crystal The asymmetry parameters range from 45.3 to 58.7%.
