✦ Synopsis
Proton and infrared absorption spectra of seven peroxysterols of general structure 6&alkoxy-5,6&epidioxy-5~-5,6secocholestane-3/3,5-diol reveal low-field (6, 10.0-10.8) sharp one-proton singlets and associated sharp 3-330 cm-' absorption bands of the Sr-hydroxy group, intramolecularly hydrogen bonded to vicinal peroxide oxygen in a previously unrecognized correlation. The peroxysterols are also characterized by 13C NMR spectra. KEY WORDS Cholesterol Peroxysterol Hydroperoxide Epidioxide Hydrogen bond Low-field proton signals Infrared I3C NMR spectra Proton spectra.

## Abstract The NMR spectra of eight alkyl vinyl sulphides have been analyzed and the parameters compared with those obtained from an analogous series of oxygen derivatives. It is shown that a definite parallelism exists between chemical shifts and HH coupling. Difference in absolute values have b
