We have investigated the crystal and magnetic structure of the RPd 2 Al 2 compounds (R ΒΌ La, Ce) by neutron powder diffraction (ND) and inelastic neutron scattering (INS). The ND study shows that both compounds undergo a structural phase transition from tetragonal to orthorhombic symmetry at 91.5 K
