## Abstract A series of new 3โ€(substituted) 3โ€hydroxyโ€propanoic acid ethyl esters **1aโ€“c**, hydrazides **2aโ€“c**, thiosemicarbazides **3aโ€“f**, and semicarbazides **3g**, **3h** has been synthesized. Cyclization of compounds **3aโ€“d** in basic medium yielded 1,2,4โ€triazoleโ€5โ€thiones **4aโ€“d**. On the o
