β¦ Synopsis
ABSTnACT: A fourth-order nonlinear partial differential equation is obtained for plane stress conditions in terms of a stress function. Suggested methods of solulion include direct substitutlon and perturbation based on the elastic solution. The perfectly plastic problem is considered as a limiting ease for the Ramberg-Oegood stress-strain relation. It is pointed out that the comparability equation can be used to find the secant modulus if the perfectly plastic part is contained by a perfectly elastic region.

This paper continues the analysis of scabbing in materials in terms of wave propagation effects due to the presence of plasticity. It presents the elastic and the elasto-plastic analysis of stress states which can cause scabbing. A particular problem is solved for scabbing in a bar of 14S-T4 aluminu
Fracture in a thin elastic/plastic layer bonded by elastic beam-like materials is analytically considered. A direct impetus of this study is to investigate the cracking of a soldered joint commonly seen in electronic systems. A common approach of beam-on-elastic-foundation for bonded joints is exten
