NOTE FROM THE NEW EDITOR
I am looking forward with enthusiasm to serving as Editor of Head & Neck Surgery, which is now entering its seventh year of publication and has truly established itself as an important state-of-the-art journal in this rapidly growing field. The credit and thanks for this belong to Dr. Alan Nahum, Founding Editor, who recognized the need for the journal, helped launch it, and was its "guiding light" as Editor for the first six volumes.
A n important element of Head & Neck Surgery is the presentation of peer-reviewed scientific articles covering the results of basic science and clinical research. These inform specialists in the field of the latest advances in the diagnosis and management of benign and malignant tumors, deformities, trauma, and other diseases of the head and neck area. We intend to provide a balance between basic science research articles and pure clinical management papers, making the journal a forum for both theoretical and practical discussions. It is our goal to disseminate pertinent information that will appeal to the entire range of specialists, providing a broad spectrum so that physicians in the field can stay abreast in the evolving specialty of head and neck surgery.
It is my hope that Head & Neck Surgery will play an important role by publishing articles that communicate and bridge the gap between and among various specialists in the field. With this philosophy in mind, potential authors for Head & Neck Surgeryotolaryngologists, surgical oncologists and general surgeons, plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons, radiotherapists, medical oncologists, pathologists, ophthalmologists, dermatologists, and dentists, as well as researchers and academicians in plastic and reconstructive surgery-are encouraged to submit articles with an awareness of the broad audience we wish to serve.
