A high surface area, chemically-prepared graphitic oxide, Cs04H2, has been used as cathodic material in lithium batteries. Good performances have been obtained (2000 W h/kg energy density) because of its physico-chemical and electrochemical properties. Industrial applications can be envisaged.

The cathodic behaviors of PbO (red and yellow), Pb,Ol. Pb203 and PbOr (a and 8) in lithium cells were presented. A single platectu at 1.4-1.5 V was observed over the wide range in discharge curves at 0.1 mA. cm-' for PbO (red), Pb304 and PbZ03 cathodes, and two plateaus were observed for PbO (yellow
