This paper deals with the dynamics of non-linear distributed parameter "xed-bed bioreactors. The model consists of a pair of non-linear partial di!erential (evolution) equations. The true spatially three-dimensional situation is considered instead of the usual one-dimensional approximation. This ena

✦ Synopsis
A geometrically non-linear version of the well known 8-node Wilson brick element is presented. The element is based on a sound variational formulation and the modified method of incompatible modes, which are shown to render quite a satisfying, locking-free performance in some challenging large displacement problems.
