β¦ Synopsis
In this paper an approach to the formulation of equilibrium elements for the analysis of three-dimensional elasticity problems is presented.
This formulation is an extension of the approach previously proposed l S z for the analysis of two-dimensional elasticity problems. The general aspects of the formulation remain unchanged when applied to the new problem, but new points are considered, namely the way to perform volume integrations for general elements and the techniques used to obtain the self-equilibrated three-dimensional stress approximation functions.
The numerical behaviour of such elements is presented and discussed.

This paper deals with the dynamics of non-linear distributed parameter "xed-bed bioreactors. The model consists of a pair of non-linear partial di!erential (evolution) equations. The true spatially three-dimensional situation is considered instead of the usual one-dimensional approximation. This ena
## Abstract A threeβdimensional finiteβelement model of contaminant migration in fissured clays or contaminated sand which includes multiple sources of nonβequilibrium processes is proposed. The conceptual framework can accommodate a regular network of fissures in 1D, 2D or 3D and immobile solution
In the present paper, a "nite-element model for simulating muscle mechanics is described. Based on nonlinear continuum mechanics an algorithm is proposed that includes the contractile active and passive properties of skeletal muscle. Stress in the muscle is assumed to result from the superposition o
In this paper a general boundary element formulation for the three-dimensional elastoplastic analysis of cracked bodies is presented. The non-linear formulation is based on the Dual Boundary Element Method. The continuity requirements of the field variables are fulfilled by a discretization strategy
## Abstract The purpose of this study was to propose a systematic approach to validate a finite element model (FEM) of the human mandible and to investigate the effects of changing the geometry and orthotropic material properties on the FEM predictions. Thirtyβeight variables affecting the material
