We wish to disclose our preliminary studies concerning a new example of relatively slow nitrogen inversion. At room temperature (22') the 60 MHz nmr spectra of 7-methyl-7-azatetrafluorobenzonorbornadienel (I) and 7-methyl-7-azatetrachlorobenzonorbornadiene2 (II) show the expected proton absorption

## Abstract The nitrogen inversion barriers of nine 3,6‐dihydro‐1,2‐oxazines are discussed. Polar solvents were found to increase the nitrogen inversion barriers which, in turn, decrease with increasing size of the __N__‐substituent.
