## Abstract The synthesis and the structural and spectroscopic characterization of nonfluorescent, pyrene‐based cyclic __o__‐quinodimethanes are reported. These compounds react efficiently with nitric oxide (NO) in a formal cheletropic manner, by which the fluorescent aromatic pyrene system is rege
