โฆ Synopsis
present a novel method to acquire reliable scanning tunnelling spectra using iron electrodes in borate media. They provide the first quantitative map of the electronic density within the oxide as a function of both the electron energy and the electrode potential. The method can be relevantly used for the study of corrosion, catalysis and redox biomolecules.

Electron Microscopy and Radiation-Sensitive Nanomaterials
A. K. Schaper from the Philipps University in Marburg, Germany, and co-workers present a study of the special care required for investigations with electron microscopy of natural organic and synthetic nanomaterails sensitive to high-energy electrons. Their work used naturally grown nanotubes with normal and cryogenic scanning electron microscopy, as well as template-grown nanotubes and nanorods containing discotic liquids with transmission electron diffraction and microscopy at lowdose conditions, high efficiency image acquisition, cryoprotection and additional data from electron energy filtering observations.
