โฆ Synopsis
MN/USA) -Laser surgery to treat vision problems has become an established method. A research team from Mayo Clinic (USA) now presents good news: laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) do not cause long-term changes in the corneal endothelium. The scientists examined 29 eyes from 16 patients. Central endothelial photographs were taken before and 9 years after surgery. The annual rate of cell loss was determined and compared with cell loss during a 10year period in 42 unoperated corneas. No difference was observed.
