β¦ Synopsis
CURRENT TOl 'ICS 265 reasonably good quality print of less than 0.1 per cent. The character recognition system is linked at present to an IBM 1401 computer, which provides the memory for the system and controls an output printer and tape unit. At present, the computer also performs certain logical functions which are still being studied and thus have not yet been embodied in circuitry. Since a character recognition system would in many instances be used in connection with a general purpose computer, this arrangement also provides useful experience with one kind of character recognition-computer complex that may eventually be important.
