โฆ Synopsis
Krupp Uhde GmbH and Synetix have developed a new design that can raise the efficiency and capacity of ammonia plants to 4000 tonne/d compared to 3000 tonne/d for conventional facilities. The new design uses presently available technology and catalysts. Advantages of the new design include reduced gas volume of 30% during ammonia removal at low pressure, and the size of the syngas compressor which is approximately 20% smaller. Combined operating and capital costs of the design per tonne almost equal that of theoretically single-stream plants.
