A general procedure for the synthesis of N-aryltetra-and pentamethylenediamines 1 by acid hydrolysis of N-aryl-N'-acylalkylenediamines 2 under microwave irradiation is described. The precursors 2 are obtained by amination of the corresponding N-(x-haloalkyl)benzamides with aromatic amines 3.
