โœฆ Synopsis


The new ternary molybdenum chalcogenides of general formula M2, ' 2Mo6, X6n, 2 (M = Rb, Cs; X = S, Se) crystallize in the trigonal rhombohedral space group R3 (the same as for the Chevrel phases) and are characterized by the new condensed clusters Mo~2, Mo~8 , M024 and M030. Electrical resistivity measurements performed on single crystals indicate that these materials are metallic conductors with an unusual temperature dependence of their resistivity and undergo either a superconducting or a metal-insulator transition at low temperature.
