β¦ Synopsis
Using a 40 cm curved mica crystal spectrograph of the transmission (Cauchois) type, two new satellites, namely ~5 and 7 ', at h = 1654.1 X.U. and A = 1255.1 X-U. respectively, have been reported in the L-X-ray emission spectrum of ytterbium-70, for the first time. On the basis of Wentzel's double ionisation theory for the origin of high frequency satellites, these have been akigned to the transitions L3Mt --L Mt M5 and LzM4 + hIaN respectively. The existence of the satellite Lpi in the spectrum of ytterbium-70 has been confirmed and it has been assigned to the transition L3 MS -+ hIsNS -
