โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
Adenosine 5โฒโdiphosphoribose (ADPR) and a second compound, which may be nicotinamide, are the newly discovered photoproducts resulting from irradiation of ฮฒโnicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (ฮฒโNADH) in the wavelength range of 300โ400โ nm under oxygenโpoor conditions. Both products emerge there even exclusively, whereas, at higher oxygen concentrations, the oxidized form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD^+^) is additionally formed, although still as a minor product. The development of ADPR and NAD^+^ is clearly oxygenโdependent, while, for the formation of the second photoproduct, small quantities of oxygen appear to be sufficient.

Upon irradiation through Pyrex with a xenon lamp (hw>300 nm), perfluoroalkyl iodides add to terminal allenes regioselectively to afford the corresponding iodoperfluoroalkylated products, where perfluoroalkyl and iodo groups are selectively introduced into the terminal and central carbons of allenes,
Irradiation with near-UV light dramatically enhances the reducing ability of ytterbium diiodide (Ybl2). Organic bromides, iodides, tosylates, and tellurides are reduced efficiently by a Yblz-hv system, while these can not be reduced with Ybl 2 in the dark.
