✦ Synopsis

Phosphane complexes of NiCl~2~ react with Se(SiMe~3~)~2~ affording mixtures of cluster complexes whose structures are dependent on the phosphane ligands. Through the variation of the ligands, complexes 1–6 were isolated and structurally characterized (Phe = C~2~H~4~Ph). Cluster 2 incorporates a spirocyclic Ni~5~ framework, 6 a central Ni~13~ cuboctahedron.

## Abstract Novel sugar‐based silica gels were prepared by exploiting the copper‐catalysed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) of two different sugar alkynes, namely, ethynyl __C__‐galactoside **1** and propargyl __O__‐lactoside **2**, with new single‐step azido‐activated silica gels. The fully char
