Proteins are extracted from liver into aqueous buffer at pH 7 and separated by size exclusion chromatography (SEC). Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) with a magnetic sector mass spectrometer is used to identify those protein fractions that contain Cu,
