A novel design for the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) has been proposed. By attaching palladium and gold electrodes on the same face of BaCe,,,Gd,,O,\_, electrolyte and feeding a mixture of CH, and 0, (CH,:O, mole ratio = 2:l) to the cell at 95O"C, electric power could be generated from the cell. The
