4. Conclusions

The main conclusion from t h e presented investigation is that, the "132" phases exist in t h e BaC0,-rich region of the all superconducting Ln-Ba-Cu-0 systems, where Ln = Sm-Tm exept Tb. These compounds crystallize in t h e tetragonal modification and are isostructural with the previously described oxide, YBa,Cu,O, (ROTH e t al.).

We have investigated the Raman scattering in RE,BaCuO,, where RE=Y, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu, in the 50-1500 cm-' region. We have also recorded the electronic spectra of some of these RE,BaCuOS. From these studies, we concluded that the broad Raman band located at about 1100-I 177 cm-'
