tonne/y of PolyTHF and 80,000 tonne/y of THF. The new method involves the direct conversion of butane to THF and subsequently to PolyTHF. This eliminates the need to produce 1,4-butanediol. The process also makes use of a proprietary catalyst for oxidising n-butane with air to maleic anhydride.
