The peri-ethinyl-substituted 1,6-methano[ 101annulenes 2-5 were synthesized starting from lc or 1 d. Hydrolysis of 4 yielded 6; compounds 7 and 8 were isolated as undesired side-products of these syntheses. The interactions between the "parallel triplebonds" were investigated.
