✦ Synopsis
National Employment Counseling Association A Division of the American Counseling Association Highlights 2008-2010 Program Years NECA's online Working Ahead, Moving Forward™ Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certificate program was piloted under the support and leadership of Drs. Kay Brawley and Roberta Neault. With full approval of the new curriculum for the GCDF credential received from the Center for Credentialing and Education, NECA launched its first full course of online training leading to certification, with participants beginning the 12-week training course in January 2010, followed closely by the second course in May and the third in September.
A course for Instructors was held in March for the leadership of NECA and other workforce professionals with prior GCDF Instructor certification. These instructors had the immediate opportunity to be guest instructors in the next GCDF online 12-week training course and to be listed on the NECA Registry of Instructors. This true program without borders is already proving to meet the needs of our career and employment counseling community across the United States and Canada-and we have just begun.
NECA had a seamless editor transition with its Journal of Employment
Counseling. NECA's terrific longtime editor Norman Amundson retired after 10 years, and Roberta Neault assumed the editor's position with the March 2009 issue. Several special issues have been published under Dr. Neault's leadership on topics including school-to-work transition, international/global careers, and social justice. Dr. Neault is honored for her work and commitment to making JEC the premier journal addressing employment issues.
The NECA website was transformed under the direction of Trustee Kimberly Key.
