✦ Synopsis
In a discharge flow system O2(1A~) sensitized chemiluminescence has been observed from the two low lying lAg and 11C~ states of $2 in the wavelength re~ion 1.0 to 1.8 ~tm. The hitherto unknown energies of the two states were found to be 5730 -+ 20 crn -1 and 7961 -+ 15 cm -l, respectively. Due to the near energy resonance (AE ~ 79 cm -1 ) between the lAg state of 02 and the 1 ~g + state of $2 effective energy exchange between both molecules is found to occur.
