We report on the near-infrared (NIR) emission of Cr:Mn,SiO, (tephroite) and Cr:MgCaSiO, (monticellite). Both systems arc related to Cr:M&SiO, (forsterite) which shows laser action in the'NIR region. For both tephroite and monticellite the emission is shifted to longer wavelength compared with forste
