Naturally Occurring Terpene Derivatives, 383^1)^. – Synthesis of Isopetasol

Starting with 2,3‐dimethylphenol (1), isopetasol (13) and epi‐isopetasol (15) have been synthesized. A new route to the necessary octalin derivative 9 and for the introduction of the isopropylidene side‐chain has been described.
