β¦ Synopsis
The structure of the title compound, C 7 H 7 Cl 2 NO 2 S, resembles those of other methanesulfonanilides, with similar geometric parameters. The amide H atom is roughly in the plane of the dichlorophenyl group with a deviation of Γ0.021 (7) A Λ, while the S atom is slightly above the plane with a deviation of 0.285 (9) A Λ. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the C-N-S plane is 14.4 (5) . The molecules are packed into chains through N-HΓ Γ ΓO hydrogen bonds and weak (methyl)C-HΓ Γ ΓO interactions.

Molecules of the title compound, C 11 H 13 Cl 2 NO, are linked into a chain running along the b-axis direction. The structure shows a close resemblance to those of related amides but with slightly different bond parameters.
