✦ Synopsis

The structure of the title compound, C 7 H 7 Cl 2 NO 2 S, resembles those of other methanesulfonanilides, with similar geometric parameters. The amide H atom is roughly in the plane of the dichlorophenyl group with a deviation of À0.021 (7) A ˚, while the S atom is slightly above the plane with a deviation of 0.285 (9) A ˚. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the C-N-S plane is 14.4 (5) . The molecules are packed into chains through N-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds and weak (methyl)C-HÁ Á ÁO interactions.
