✦ Synopsis

The title compound, C 19 H 12 N 2 O 3 , was prepared by the reaction of hydrazine and salicylaldehyde with 1,8-naphthoic anhydride in refluxing dimethylformamide. The structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bond and the crystal packing exhibits C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds. The dihedral angle formed by the benzene and naphthalimide systems is 175.9 .
