## Abstract The Mössbauer emission spectrum of ^57^Co in CoFe~2~O~4~ is reported. Electron capture leads to the formation of ^57^Fe^3+^ substituting ^57^Co^2+^. The stabilization of the aliovalent charge state is consistent with an electrostatic model.

57Co emission M6ssbauer measurements have been performed for YBa2Cu306.92 (1-2-307) as well as YBa2Cu306.O (1-2-306) at room temperature and compared with the results from 57Fe absorber experiments reported previously. It is found that the Co atoms mainly substitute Cul chain sites in 1-2-307 but ab
