Multiwa¨elength oscillation has been obtained in an erbium-doped fiber laser. A double-pass optical fiber Mach᎐Zehnder interferometer is employed as a comb filter inside the laser ca¨ity. To reduce the homogeneous linewidth, the erbium-doped optical fiber was immersed in liquid nitrogen. Simultaneou

✦ Synopsis
the sense of giving the highest unloaded Q for the specified cylindrical helix diameter to shield the distance and wire size to the pitch ratio. A comparison between the experimental values and the numerical results here is shown as in Figure 3.
From the comparison, it can be seen that the analysis of the operation modes is reliable.
For a tapered helix, if a is increased to 1.16 a, our numerical program shows that, to obtain the same l , f should 1 decrease to 0.97 f. While at the same time, if we want to keep the same f, l should be increased to 0.97a. All numerical q values of these have been proven by the experimental phew x nomenon in 1 .
IV. CONCLUSION
In this short paper, the modes in a circular resonator with a helix or tapered helix inside are determined to be the HE nmh mode; the dominant mode is proven to be the HE mode.
