✦ Synopsis

A simple model is suggested to treat small multiply charged Rg;+ clusters. In this model, the ionic charges are assumed to be located either on atomic ions or on ionic Rg2+ dimers. The model is used to calculate the double and triple ionization potentials of Ar. and Xe. clusters. Interatomic potentials in multiply charged clusters are presented in analytical form.

A linear correlation plot is presented for the first ionization energy of the rare-gas n-mers, which extrapolates to a similar correlation for the photoemission threshold of the solid rare gases. Also a simple correlation is described for the heteronuclear rare-gas dimers, the correlation parameter
