✦ Synopsis

In this paper we prove a conjecture due to A. Berele and T. Imbo, concerning the appearance of multiple hook characters as components in Kronecker products of complex irreducible characters of the symmetric group. Our proof is constructive and the required multiple hooks are computed combinatorially.

We introduce a new family of \(\mathbb{Z}\) bases for the ring of \(S_{n}\) characters and give their transition matrices explicitly. Applying one of these bases, we introduce a recursive formula for the Kronecker product of two characters. Another application is a sufficient condition for the vanis
