β¦ Synopsis
Multiphoton excitation of CS2 by means of a frequency-narrowed tunable l&F hser (248 nnr) leads to ionization and photofragment fluorescence from CS(A 'n) and CS(d 34)_ Emission spectra cm be obtained without any inrerierence irom the strong laser-induced fluoresomce from CS(X '-+ ) observed in previous work with a broad-band KrCrF laser. Excitation and fragmentation mechanisms are discussed within the contest of higher Rydberg states ofCS=.
