## Abstract Microstrip bandpass filters are widely used in a variety of microwave systems, particularly in transmitter and receiver sections etc. to select a desired band of frequencies. However, common bandpass filters have deficiencies such as several resonators coupling, coupling gaps, only one

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel multimode broadband square patch bandpass filter is proposed. The return loss of the filter is more than 11 dB and insertion loss is less than 1.2 dB within 3.47–5.22 GHz. This new filter has four transmission poles in the passband and the 3dB bandwidth is 48.9%. Measured results are in good agreement with simulated results. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A novel bandpass filter using a dual‐mode square‐patch resonator is proposed in this article. The input and the output of the filter are constructed on a coplanar‐waveguide (CPW) and a microstrip line, respectively. Therefore, a transition of CPW/microstrip may be simultaneously realize
