Abstract

An overview of old and new results in studies of the quasi‐realistic free fermionic models is presented, which include the recent discovery of exophobic string vacua and reproduction of the Higgs‐matter splitting mechanism in a corresponding orbifold construction.

## Abstract Within the context of the __E__~8~ × __E__~8~ heterotic superstring compactified on a smooth Calabi‐Yau threefold with an __SU__(4) gauge instanton, we show the existence of simple, realistic __N__ = 1 supersymmetric vacua that are compatible with low energy particle physics. The observ
