A series of alternative designs for the attachment of the seal housing to a large slurry pump is covered by this patent. The purpose is to improve pump efficiency and maintenance, and overcome problems associated with lifting into place replacement seal housings. The housing can be adjustable and hence pump clearances can be reduced to improve efficiency. A large number of options are described using 59 figures.

An oil seal is described that has a pair of concentric seal lips contained in a rotating housing and a stationary flange between them. The inner lip does not contact the stationary flange when the shaft is stationary but moves to close the gap, presumably due to centrifugal force. A wide selection o
