โœฆ Synopsis

An expression is derived for the radiometer force which is valid at pressures from t'he free-molecule to the hydrodynamic region. A method is presented for obtaining inelastic collision cross sections (rotational relaxation times] from the detailed shape of the radiometer force curve. Some radiometer data arc analyzed t,o give the rotational collision numl~ers for several gases. These :xc in reasonable agreement with values obtained by other methods.

## A ne\v contribution to collision cross sections due to the angular dependent part of London dispersion forces has been developed on the basis of the Anderson-Tsao-Curnuttek theory. A numerical calculation of this contribution has been performed for rotational lines of HCl broadened by rare gase
