Calculations are reported which explore the effect of an ion on the arrangement and motion of the surrounding solvent molecules in a highly polar medium. Upon inclusion in capped B-cyclodextrin, the overall reorientational motion of doubly deuterium labeled p-methylcinnamic acid slows down by a factor of 14 compared with that in an aqueous solution but the internal rotation of the methyl group still remains free. In order to design sophisticated hos
